Retrospect 2014 11:33 AM
As new Design Advocate in the at RTKL's Dallas Office and after many years of been part of this exhibit we decided to make the 2014 Retrospect different. This time we organized an internal design competition to open the door to new talent within the office to show their work. We established a Jury and we received 10 entries.
The Jury was integrated by: Lance Hosey, Katie Sprague, Brendan O'Grady, Clemente Jaquez and Hernan Molina.
The winner entry was presented by Christine Kim. After the design selection we went on a second phase of design development and construction. The final piece was exhibit on the 2014 Edition of Retrospect sponsored by AIA Dallas at the North Park Mall.
The final piece express our commitment on the creation of a balanced built and natural environment based on social, environmental and economic values.

TEX-FAB APPLIED 1:53 PM
RTKL's RE-FLEX wins Honorable Mention on the TEX-FAB APPLIED: Research through Fabrication competition.
Jury Comments:
The inherent beauty and elegance of RE-FLEX led the jury to comment that the proposal with intelligent performative ‘digitally fabricated joinery has built in flexibility/ capacity to take-on or influence formal characteristics.’ While its ‘aperture informs form/light transmittance and resultant structural proposition’, finally suggesting that the proposal would benefit from further work as the ‘surface thickness provides potential for sustainable structural system – compression of joinery at highly compressed moments in mobius band must be studied further.
Team:
H. Molina, J. Kepsel, B. O’Grady, A. Shenefelt, M. Cagle, J. LeMaster, H.Y. Mok, S. Y. Kim, D. Wekesser, R. Crum and R. Ting
